How it works

Simple on purpose: one server, yours, close by

No cluster diagrams, no cloud regions, no fine print. A dedicated machine in our Portland data center, a private connection to your office, and clear rules about what runs where.

Your dedicated server

We provision a server assigned to your organization alone, in our data center a few miles away. Not shared, not pooled, not resold. If you outgrow it, we add a Compute Unit — you change nothing.

A private connection

Your people reach it by encrypted VPN, or your office connects by a site-to-site tunnel. Either way the path is private end to end. There is no public login page to find, phish, or brute-force.

You choose the processing mode, job by job

In-house: the AI runs on your server and nothing leaves. Extended: for jobs that benefit from a frontier model, the request goes through our managed gateway — deleted within 30 days, never used for training. Sensitive work stays in-house; you decide the rest.

Your documents and your numbers

Upload documents and ask questions of them. Connect QuickBooks Online or NetSuite and the Virtual CFO module produces variance analysis, cash position, AR and AP aging, and monthly commentary — privately.

We run it like the rest of your IT

Hardware, hosting, updates, monitoring, backup and support, all from our own Portland team. You also get a short written AI use policy for your staff, so everyone knows what belongs where.

Common questions

Where the data goes, exactly

Where does my data physically live?

On a server assigned to your organization alone, in Sterling's data center in Portland, Oregon. It is not shared with any other client and it is not a slice of a public cloud.

How do my people connect to it?

By encrypted VPN from wherever they work, or by a site-to-site VPN tunnel from your office if you prefer. Either way, the connection is private end to end.

What happens on 'in-house' processing?

The AI models run on your dedicated server. Your documents, prompts and results never leave the environment. This is the mode for your most sensitive work.

What happens on 'extended' processing?

For jobs that benefit from a frontier model, your request goes through Sterling's managed gateway under a commercial agreement: it is deleted within 30 days and is never used to train AI models. You choose which mode each job uses.

Who can see my data at Sterling?

Access is limited, logged, and covered by our service agreement. We will walk you through exactly who can touch what, and when, before you sign anything.

Ask for a demo

Thirty minutes, on your schedule. We will run a real analysis in front of you — on a sample of your own data if you are comfortable, or on ours if you would rather — and show you exactly where that data goes at each step. Nothing to prepare on your side.
